The GradDipEPM aims to fulfil industry demand by creating graduates who are changemakers, the leaders of tomorrow.
You’ll understand the principles, concepts, and practices of project management in engineering.
You’ll be prepared to pursue international opportunities within your field and you'll possess the skills necessary to contribute effectively to project teams.

Programme structure
The GradDipEPM is a 120-point taught programme offered full-time within one year or part-time over four years at our City campus.
For the 120-point programme, you will need to complete 45 core points.
15 points from:
And 30 points from either:

And an additional 75 points from:
- Courses in one or more of the Schedules for the Master of Civil Engineering or Master of Engineering Project Management, excluding research courses and dissertation.
- Stage III, IV or 700 level courses as listed in the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) Schedule, excluding research courses.
- Up to 30 points from courses listed for Parts I and II in the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) Schedule, with the approval of the Programme Director.
As well as the University of Auckland Academic Integrity course as specified in the Enrolment and Programme regulations.

2025 entry requirements
Programme requirements
Any of the following will fulfil the entry requirements for the GradDipEPM:
- Any bachelors degree (A GPA/GPE of at least 2.0 is strongly recommended.)
- A professional qualification or equivalent level of relevant professional experience as approved by Senate or its representative
- A level of technical competence in Engineering equivalent to at least Parts I and II of the BE (Hons)
Note: Relevant professional experience may be working in engineering and related areas such as aerospace, architecture, chemical and process, commerce, computer systems, software and information technology, construction, environmental and civil, electrical, and electronic or mechanical.
Further programme requirements
English proficiency
You will need to provide evidence of your English proficiency if you are:
- An international applicant whose first language is not English
- A domestic applicant under 20 years of age whose first language is not English

Fees are set in advance of each calendar year and will be updated on this website. Fees are inclusive of 15% GST, but do not include the Student Services Fee, course books, travel and health insurance, or living costs. Amounts shown are indicative only. In addition to the tuition fees, there is a Student Services Fee of $8.88 per point, estimated at $1,065.60 for full-time study (120 points). Fees will be confirmed upon completion of enrolment into courses.

The GradDipEPM offers a pathway for students with a low GPA or without a bachelors degree (but with relevant professional experience or qualifications). It promotes transdisciplinary skills and sustainability practices. Graduates can lead projects in diverse industries and will be well equipped to drive innovation and collaboration.
