Faculty of Arts Student Emergency Fund

A fund is available for all enrolled full-time and part-time undergraduate and postgraduate students in the Faculty of Arts who are facing financial challenges.

Criteria for funding

The fund is intended to provide immediate, short-term, emergency support for students living in New Zealand who are encountering an unexpected financial crisis that threatens their university study.

The fund can help with short-term emergencies, such as living costs, to cover things such as groceries, AT Hop card top-ups, and textbooks.

The fund is unable to support:

  • Payment of tuition fees
  • Payment of halls accommodation fees
  • Payment of debt accumulation
  • Membership fees
  • Parking tickets and fines
  • Flights

Note: Applicants can request financial support up to $500. The selection committee may consider requests for support in excess of $500 on a case-by-case basis.
