“I work as a content writer at Castleford Media, a content marketing company catering to clients throughout the Asia-Pacific region. It’s a fantastic, stimulating environment where research, writing, editorial skills and creativity come together to produce quality written and visual content.
“One of the most rewarding aspects of my job is writing for a living. Not only do I have the pleasure of immersing myself in writing on a daily basis, I also get to produce a kaleidoscopic variety of content. One moment I am writing an article detailing the intricacies of historic architecture, the next I am curating a travel guide on the best art museums to visit – and then, I change tone and style completely to write about legal issues such as protecting intellectual property through trademarks or patents.
“I wouldn’t be working here without my arts degrees. Successfully completing an honours degree and masters thesis provided me with the critical thinking skills and writing prowess to work here.
“Many of the skills needed to perform my tasks at work were crafted during my academic career in the Faculty of Arts. Researching innovatively and thoroughly, coming up with original and creative ideas for a wide range of topics, justifying written arguments with critical thinking and sound evidence, and writing engaging content are a few examples.”
“Pursuing an Arts degree is sure to open a plethora of doors for you. There’s no one yellow brick road to follow, but rather you can click your ruby slippers together and feel as though ‘there’s no place like work’ because there are so many pathways and careers on offer. Thanks to my arts degrees, I have worked in marketing, politics, public art galleries and museums, curated an exhibition, taught languages, tutored courses… and the journey has just begun!”
