Undergraduate study
Bachelor of Medical Imaging (Honours)
Our department offers the only Medical Imaging degree to be offered by a university in New Zealand. Successful completion of this programme leads to registration with the New Zealand Medical Radiation Technologists Board (MRTB).
Classes are taught on the Grafton campus by our team of experienced Medical Imaging practitioners, and supported by our radiologists, physicists and anatomists. Students learn experientially in simulation labs at Auckland Hospital, as well at at clinical placement sites throughout the country.
Bachelor of Biomedical Sciences
The Biomedical Science programme is designed for students with an interest in the emerging areas of basic medical science and its applications to improve health.
Our department has a focus on two of the pathways within this programme:
- Neuroscience
- Anatomical Imaging Science
The undergraduate Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Biomedical Science degree is an interdisciplinary specialisation within the BSc programme. Classes are co-taught by the Faculties of Science and Medical and Health Sciences, with lectures split between the City and Grafton Campuses.
Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery Programme (MBChB)
Our department also contributes to the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery programme (MBChB). We coordinate the Nervous system and Special Senses module as well as delivering the Radiology Weeks. We deliver lectures in the Respiratory system, Digestive system, Cardiovascular system, Genitourinary System modules in MBChB 221, and the Nervous system and Special Senses, Reproduction and Endocrinology and medical humanities modules in MBChB 321.
