About our department

The department of medicine aims to undertake research and teaching of the highest possible standard and contribute to the delivery of high quality medical healthcare in Auckland and beyond.

The Department of Medicine within the School of Medicine is responsible for a major component of the faculty's clinical teaching. With a staff of more than 100, the department supports a network of clinical teachers throughout Auckland, Bay of Plenty, Northland, Rotorua, Taranaki and Waikato.

The Department is responsible for teaching in all disciplines of internal medicine. These include cardiology, neurology, respiratory and sleep medicine, endocrinology, gastroenterology, rheumatology and renal medicine.
