Medical
Undergraduate
The department is responsible for teaching Obstetrics and Gynaecology to students in years 2 and 3 as well as 5 and 6 of the medical curriculum at the University of Auckland's School of Medicine. Year 5 and 6 teaching currently is carried out at Auckland Hospital and Middlemore Hospital, and for a smaller number of students at Waikato Hospital and North Shore Hospital.
Postgraduate
The purpose of the postgraduate Diploma in Obstetrics and Medical Gynaecology is to improve standards of obstetric and gynaecological care provided by general practitioners. Diploma candidates undergo a programme of practical training and formal education. Special update courses are held twice a year, as are the formal examinations (written multi-choice questions and an objective structured clinical examination).
