The Department of Paediatrics: Child and Youth Health, strives to improve the health and well-being of children and young people through teaching, research, clinical practice and advocacy.
The department is a leader in research on the health of children and young people, and has nationally and internationally-active research groups in population health and disease prevention, emergency medicine, infectious diseases, respiratory diseases, growth and nutrition, foetal development, neonatology, cleft palate, sudden unexpected death in infancy, dental health, acute rheumatic fever and rheumatic heart disease, allergy and immunology, and youth health.
The department contributes extensively to both undergraduate and postgraduate health professional education.
