Circulatory effects of peripheral chemoreflex inhibition at rest and exercise in hypertension

We are investigating whether specialised sensors in the body that respond to changes in blood oxygen become hyperactive in people with hypertension.

What's involved?

Participation involves two experimental visits that will last ~2 ½ hours each and be separated by ~2 weeks. To learn more about the details about each experimental visit, please read the participant information sheet (linked below).

Eligibility criteria

We are inviting participants who:

  • Have high blood pressure (systolic blood pressure ≥140 mmHg or diastolic blood pressure ≥90 mmHg)
  • A body mass index of <18 or >30 kg/m2 (Note: your body mass index can be calculated by dividing your weight in kilograms by your height in metres squared)
