Immunisations required
You will need to provide Serological Proof of Immunity for:
- Measles (Blood test required)
- Mumps
- VZV (chickenpox)
- Hepatitis B (antigen and antibody results required)
You will need to show negative tests for:
- Hepatitis C
- Tuberculosis (Quantiferon Gold test or chest X-Ray)
- HIV
You will need to show evidence of the following vaccination
- Pertussis vaccination in the last four years
In order to save time and money you must have provided us with your immunisation laboratory results before your elective commences. You will not be able to commence your elective until we have received the laboratory test results for the diseases listed above. Test results for the proof of immunity must not be more than four years old.
Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (MRSA)
All students having direct patient contact must be shown to be free from MRSA. To achieve this you will be asked to complete a survey prior to your arrival to determine whether testing is required. If you have chronic skin conditions, chronic sinusitis, or bronchiectasis, then swabs will need to be taken from the nose and any skin lesions. These swabs will need to be taken after your last patient contact before your elective and will need to be presented on your first day.
