Centre for Co-Created Ageing Research (CCREATE-AGE)

CCREATE-AGE University of Auckland Doctoral Scholarships

The Centre will award two doctoral scholarships to support PhD candidates wishing to undertake research in co-created ageing research. The research must span across more than one discipline and should be aligned with one or more of the research and cross-cutting research themes that will meet the self-identified needs and aspirations of older people, researchers, stakeholders and funders (see below attachment for further details).

Selection criteria

In addition to meeting the Doctoral Entry Requirements, potential Candidates will be selected based on the extent to which their statement of research intent describes:

  • Co-created research: actively involving older people
  • Transdisciplinary research: spanning more than one discipline and aligned to one or more of research themes
  • Research that embeds equity, diversity or inclusion

We aim to support at least one scholarship per year from Māori or Pacific applicants to reflect our strategic goal to encourage the growth of Indigenous knowledge and research capacity.

We will prioritise applicants who:

  • are already engaged with the communities that they propose to work with and/or
  • have experience in co-creation or community-based work

Applications close on 1 September 2023. Please send your application form to CCREATEAGE@auckland.ac.nz before the closing date.

Te Poutoko Ora a Kiwa - Centre for Pacific and Global Health

Te Poutoko Ora a Kiwa | Centre for Pacific & Global Health Doctoral Scholarship

Te Poutoko Ora a Kiwa is a newly established University of Auckland Research Centre that focuses on collaborative research and action to address ‘wicked’ societal health challenges and promote health equity.

Our four key areas of research are of particular importance to the Pacific region and Aotearoa New Zealand. These are: noncommunicable diseases (inclusive of mental health and sensory health); health impacts of the climate crisis; pandemic preparedness; and the health of children and young people. To address these issues, we take a transdisciplinary approach that promotes Pacific values, knowledge and priorities.

Our two key goals are to deliver high quality research to have a positive impact on our Pacific communities globally; and to foster a culture of learning through active engagement in transdisciplinary teamwork.

Our doctoral scholarships align with our two key goals and our strategic objectives:

  1. Develop Pacific research leadership and promote Pacific-led research at a global level.
  2. Provide training opportunities to develop active global health contributors and leaders.
  3. Undertake translational research which addresses regional health priorities and global targets.
  4. Co-create research that generates evidence for actionable knowledge.

We invite emerging scholars from the Pacific region and the globe to apply for this scholarship and work with us as a doctoral candidate within a transdisciplinary and co-creation model.
