Sheep in paddock

Ngapouri Research Farm conducts a wide range of biomedical and agricultural research, including maternal nutrition, metabolic management and the prevention and mitigation of disease. More recently, work has been done to develop in-vitro rumen/bioreactor systems in collaboration with Auckland Bioengineering Institute to channel IP development to on-farm applications for clients and collaborators.

Facilities and support include:

Animals

  • high quality, reliable animal supply with access to assured genetics and a comprehensive animal health programme
  • 50 hectares of pasture and fodder crops, with access to additional land if needed
  • feedlot with 120 individual pens, plus group pens for up to 150 sheep
