Key facts

Programme: PhD
Research topic: “Exploring the role of maternal and infant determinants on glucocorticoid composition of human milk”
Supervisor: Professor David Cameron-Smith

Dr Shikha Pundir explored the mysteries of human breast milk for her PhD. As a research fellow on staff at the Liggins Institute, she continued investigating the impact of different environmental, social and biological factors on the stress hormones in human milk. She was trying to find out how maternal factors can influence milk composition and if they can affect the health of breastfed babies.

In this video, she explains why conducting her research at the Liggins Institute is a badge of honour.
