"My Mum greatly influenced me to choose the University of Auckland because she studied a Bachelor of Music here. I also decided on this University because it offered everything I wanted to study.
"Studying Ancient History and History at University has blown my mind so much and has allowed me to go further than I ever could. Exploring everything from ancient civilisations up until recently will always be mind-blowing. History allows me to study things very deeply, and I am thankful to have learned about many fascinating topics!
"Being a student in the Faculty of Arts is great! It's so inclusive, and there are support groups left, right and centre for everybody. There is a sense of community in the Faculty of Arts, and it's incredible to know that I am a part of this Faculty.
I plan on becoming a tertiary professor in African American History, and I thank Associate Professor Jennifer Frost for inspiring me.
"The student lifestyle is so free-flowing! I owe much of my lifestyle to Unibound, which I did in 2020. It's different and allows for independence among the students. There are so many things available for students, making the student lifestyle much better.
"With this degree, I plan on becoming a tertiary professor in African American History, and I thank Associate Professor Jennifer Frost for inspiring me. When I was younger, I always said I wanted to be a teacher but never meant it. I know what I want to do now that I've done this fantastic degree.
"My advice for future students is to go for it! You've made it this far! Keep going, and never forget your 'whys' and the people who pushed you to get to where you are now. University can feel like a scary place, but the outcomes are amazing. In the words of my favourite rapper, 'tell them you got this.'"
