Key facts
Programme: Bachelor of Arts
Majors: Psychology and Criminology
“I wanted to study at one of the most prestigious universities in New Zealand. Studying here allows me to step outside of my comfort zone, meet new people, and explore different courses.
"The Faculty of Arts stood out to me because it allowed me to simultaneously do two majors I love. It also offered me the freedom to change majors or pick up different papers that piqued my interest.
“I love true crime and neuroscience, so being able to combine both of them is amazing. Psychology within Arts offers both neuroscience and social aspects. Criminology allowed me to explore what possible career options I have. Both majors have allowed me to see what possible postgraduate study can be like within the University. At the Faculty of Arts, the opportunities you get, the people you meet, and the experiences you have are truly unmatched.
The student lifestyle at the university is amazing! The University has more than 200 student clubs, so there is bound to be something that piques your interest. I’ve met some of my favourite people here and have made lifelong friends.
“I have had the opportunity to be President of Shakti Youth UoA, which is a club centred around helping ethnic minorities have their voice heard. The club stands for everything I stand for. It also aims to provide a safe place for our ethnic youth on campus. I also have had the pleasure of being an Arts+ Team Leader. Within Arts+, I’ve met some incredible people and have had the opportunity to guide first years through university. From being a mentor to being a friend; it has been great to help them to navigate life after high school.
“I’d love to work within the psychology field but right now I’m enjoying the path life is taking me on. I cannot wait to see what opportunities lie in the future.
“You’ll be surprised at the things you accomplish at the University of Auckland! You’re going to meet some of the best people at university.”
