About our department
Kia ora tatau! Welcome to the Department of Anatomy and Medical Imaging!
Our department makes major teaching and research contributions in the areas of Anatomy, Medical Imaging and Radiology. Our staff teach into a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in the biomedical sciences, medicine and medical sciences, and for clinical specialist training (Radiology and Surgery).
Our research is multidisciplinary and ranges from clinical anatomy research to the molecular basis of human diseases. We have a strong focus on human biology, cell biology, histology, molecular biology, computer modelling and imaging capabilities. Within the department we have a world class Human Anatomy Laboratory, Neurological Foundation Human Brain Bank and we are the academic home of the Biomedical Imaging Research Unit and the Histology service.
