Benjamin Morgan won a Borrin Foundation-Ngā Pae o te Māramatanga Summer Legal Research Internship Award for legal research working with the Centre in the Summer of 2021-2022.
Kia ora, my name is Ben Morgan (Ngāti Awa, Te Patuwai) and I am from Motiti Island, Tauranga. I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Politics and Criminology in 2016, and I will complete my LLB in June 2022 before heading to the US to complete my LLM.
As a Borrin Foundation and Ngā Pae o te Māramatanga intern I have researched the integration of the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples into domestic law in Belize and Canada.
In my work for the UN Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples I have researched various agreements, treaties and other constructive arrangements between Indigenous peoples and states from around Asia and Africa.
