Master of Biotechnology

Graduate student Lon Hua

“I have always wanted to pursue a career in the biotechnology space, but I was hesitant about committing to a three-year, full-time master’s programme on top of my other responsibilities.
“The Master of Biotechnology programme caught my interest because it provides more flexibility for students wanting to study and work at the same time. Compared to a typical master’s programme, the Master of Biotechnology only takes two years. This has allowed me to work a professional job and pursue part-time study without needing to give anything up.

“The best part of the Master of Biotechnology programme is that it is structured practically and industry-focused.

“If you have a strong interest in science but would also like a bit of exposure to the business and commercial side of science, then this would be an excellent programme for you. My passion has always been to work in the biotechnology industry, so naturally, this programme was perfect for me.

“I chose the Master of Biotechnology because it aligned well with my goals and career aspirations. Science is a qualification-focused industry, and having a master’s degree has helped me stand out in the competitive job market and maximise my opportunities.

“A great supervisor will make your postgraduate journey much more enjoyable and manageable. My supervisor, Jane Allison, has been the best supervisor I could have asked for. She has provided endless support and encouragement and has made the whole process of completing this programme a really great experience. I am so grateful for the opportunity to take part in this master’s programme.”
