Course credits
Completed study at the University of Auckland
If you are entering MBChB via First Year Entry or you completed your Undergraduate degree at the University of Auckland, your courses will be reassigned by the University where appropriate. You do not need to do anything and are not expected to pay any fees. This process will be completed around May 2025.
Completed study at another university
If you've completed your Undergraduate studies at a university other than the University of Auckland, you need to apply for an external credit transfer. This credit transfer will cover Part I of the MBChB programme.
To complete this process, you will need to complete the External Credit Transfer Application Form - Prior Study (AS-14). You do not need to provide detailed course outlines, please upload your transcript in place of this.
Please note a fee of $85 will be charged for the credit transfer. The fee will be added to your account on Student Services Online (SSO).
For more information, please see External transfer of credit.
Fitness to practise and child safety
As a MBChB student, you must meet the fitness to practise and child safety requirements. For more information about what fitness to practise and child safety mean, and why you need to meet these requirements, please see:
Immunisation requirements
As a MBChB student, you must be fully immunised to complete the requirements of the programme.
The University of Auckland respects the right of students to refuse COVID-19 vaccination, and does not require COVID-19 vaccination as a condition for enrolment or study at the University. Students may therefore be admitted into the MBChB who for cultural, religious, family, health or other personal reasons have chosen not to receive vaccination against COVID-19.
If the vaccination status of a student prevents the student from completing clinical placement activities, or limits their full participation in such activities, the University cannot guarantee that the student will be able to complete all the requirements for the degree of MBChB.
