Applications for Graduate Teaching Assistants (GTAs) or Teaching Assistants (TAs) for 2025

The role of the GTA/TA is to provide assistance in the delivery of courses. In this role, you will assist with marking, run tutorial or workshop streams, and may also present the occasional lecture.

The GTA/TA position offers a fantastic opportunity to work in an academic environment while pursuing further studies in your chosen area.

Eligibility to work

To be eligible to work as a GTA/TA, you must:

• Be enrolled in a postgraduate programme at the University of Auckland (or transitioning/awaiting final marks with the intention to enrol in further study)
• Have the capacity to tutor without impeding your own studies
• Have the right to work in New Zealand
• Be compliant with your scholarship regulations and let the Department know of any change in your scholarship status.

• Latest academic transcript (unofficial or official)
• If you have a scholarship - conditions or any restrictions on working hours
• Expected completion date of your programme of study
• Proof of right to work in New Zealand.

While you can indicate your interest in being a GTA/TA in Semester 1 and/or Semester 2, the cut-off date for the selection process is Friday, 31 January 2025.
