Often, sustainability is thought of in the context of caring for the environment, but it is much more than that. Sustainability relates directly to the wellbeing of our economies, society at every level and even our own lives, where living and working sustainably safe guards our wellbeing and productivity.

On 9 June 2021, Women in Supply Chain presented an event hosting two dedicated leaders, Carolyn Mortland, director of global sustainability for Fonterra and Deborah Manning, founder of Kiwi Harvest. They have both spent several decades working to make their lives, companies and New Zealand sustainable. Their purpose in different roles is to help others to understand how sustainability underpins business and personal success at all levels.

This session was focused on their journeys, both personally and professionally, as they have built major businesses and programmes of work to address the need to minimise resource waste, solve societal problems and create flourishing organisations for generations to come.
