This e-Journal features recent research contributions of members of the New Zealand Asia Institute (NZAI). The NZAI aims to strengthen knowledge about the Asia region and enhance New Zealand’s engagement with this region. We are committed to conduct research on contemporary topics related to policy and business dynamics, and their impact on the socio-economic well-being of Asia and NZ. Specifically, topics featured in this issue relate to the evolution of Taiwan’s policy responses to the Covid-19 pandemic, China’s position in the South Pacific, strategies for Western SMEs to compete in China, economic and social upgrading in Southeast Asia, and insights on consumers motivation to share their luxury purchases on social media (drawing on data from Malaysia).
