“My academic and work experience in property led to me undertaking a PhD, which was always a long-term goal for me. I really enjoyed the study facilities and environment provided to PhD students at the Business School.”
Ikenna’s PhD topic was titled “The decision-making behaviour of property owners (investors and developers) in post-disaster rebuild: A case-study of Christchurch New Zealand”.
“With the increasing occurrence of natural disasters all over the world, I saw a significant gap in the property literature on understanding how property investors and developers adapt after a major disaster. My research addressed this gap in the context of the Christchurch earthquake. I was particularly interested in the factors motivating and driving commercial property investors and developers to rebuild in a post-disaster environment.”
