Formerly known as ALES, the Auckland University Property Students Society (AUPSS) has rebranded to come back better than ever in 2022.

New AUPSS President Crystyn Pask says the name change has been a “huge success”.

“Our old name ALES was well known industry wise, but we always felt it did not resonate with new students and made the club difficult to find when first starting out at university.

“At the beginning of this year, the club underwent a full rebranding, changing our name to Auckland University Property Student Society. While it has had its challenges it has definitely been worth it, and we look forward to seeing this new branding become as well recognised as ALES used to be.”

As the sole society for property students at the University, AUPSS helps students connect with each other and with the wider industry, setting students up for success both academically and professionally.

Despite event cancellations and disruptions due to COVID, they are proud to have held two successful online seminars during Semester One that received plenty of positive student feedback.

In Semester Two, AUPSS has an exciting of calendar of events lined up, including networking opportunities and the annual Women in Property event. Still to come are the highly anticipated end of year function and some collaborative events with PINZ and the Law Student Society.

Going forward, Crystyn hopes to see the society continue to go from strength to strength.

“Some of our biggest goals for the rest of the year is to hold some successful networking events,” she says.

“They always have an amazing vibe to them when lots of students show up, and its really rewarding for the team who put in so much effort.”

“Long term, we would love to continue growing our student base, through lectures and working closely with our department. We would also love to further develop on our existing functions such as our mentoring programme and seminars we launched this year, to ensure students get the best benefits from them all.”
