University of Auckland scholarships
University of Auckland Top Achiever Scholarships
A Scholarship to recognise and reward exceptional students, who have excellent academic records combined with outstanding sporting, artistic, cultural and/or leadership achievements. The Scholarship provides one year of catered accommodation in a University of Auckland Hall of Residence plus $4,000.
University of Auckland Academic Potential Scholarships – School Leavers
The Scholarship is awarded in three tiers, and is paid over three years. Tier 1: One year of catered accommodation in a University of Auckland Hall of Residence plus $4,000 paid in four lump sums over the second and third years; Tier 2: $10,000 payable over three years; Tier 3: $6,000 payable over three years

University of Auckland Waka Moana Scholarship and University of Auckland Vaka Moana Scholarship
These Scholarships support Māori and Pacific students from low socio-economic areas and provides one year of catered accommodation in a University of Auckland Hall of Residence plus a laptop supplied by the University.
Major scholarships available to Arts undergraduate students
Faculty of Arts Auckland Schools Scholarship
A scholarship of up to $5,000 for full-time enrolment in the first year of a BA or BA conjoint degree by students from Decile 1-4 secondary schools in the Auckland area. Applications normally open between December and January.
Faculty of Arts Entry Level Undergraduate Scholarship
Candidates are nominated from short-listed University of Auckland scholarship applicants who are intending to enrol in the Faculty of Arts for full-time study in a BA, BGlobalSt or conjoint degree; value up to $5,000. No application required.
Alison Hanham Undergraduate Scholarship in Arts
For students enrolling in their first year of a BA or BA conjoint degree who are experiencing financial hardship; value up to $5,000. Applications normally open in September and October.
David and Dian Ross Undergraduate Scholarship
A scholarship of up to $10,000 per annum for up to five years for school-leavers enrolling in a BA conjoint degree who, due to financial hardship, may not otherwise be able to undertake a university degree. Applications normally open September and October.
Ellen Castle Undergraduate Scholarship in the Schools of Humanities and Social Sciences
Up to $5,000pa for up to 3 years for a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident who attended a decile 1-4 school who plans to enrol in a BA in either the School of Humanities or School of Social Sciences. Applications normally open between October and November.

Clark Undergraduate Scholarship
A scholarship of up to $25,000 per year to support students in financial hardship study enrol in a Bachelor of Arts. Applications normally open between October and November.
Dulcie Bowman Memorial Scholarship
For hearing-impaired women students in their second or subsequent year of any programme; value up to $3,000. Applications normally open between December and January.
Elon Wells Scholarship in European Languages
Two Scholarships of up to $9,000 each to support New Zealand citizens and permanent residents to enrol in undergraduate or postgraduate study in a European language. Applications normally open in May.
Evelyn Constance Alexander Scholarship in German
A Scholarship of up to $5,000 to encourage the study of German at undergraduate or postgraduate level. Applications normally open between July and August.
The Jackson Family Foundation Scholarship
For women students of Cook Island descent enrolled in full-time study in any year of an undergraduate or postgraduate degree; value up to $11,000. Applications normally open between December and January.
Freemasons University and Postgraduate Scholarships
For students in their final year of a bachelors degree, honours degree, graduate diploma, postgraduate diploma, masters degree or doctorate in any subject; value up to $6,000 for University Scholarships. Applications normally open between July and October.
Kendrick Smithyman Scholarship in Poetry
A scholarship of up to $7,000 for international and domestic students enrolled full time in Stage III of a BA, a BA(Hons), PGDipArts, MA or MCW which includes the study of poetry. Opens 9 March 2023 and closes 20 April 2023.
Professor John Asher Scholarship in German
A Scholarship of $4,500 for international and domestic students enrolled in a BA or an MA in German. Applications normally open between February and March.
Raye Freedman Trust Undergraduate Award
An Award to support first-year BA or BA conjoint students experiencing financial hardship for the first three years of degree study.
Sanders Memorial Scholarship
For children of members of Mercantile Marine or Navy entering first year of any full-time programme; value up to $5,000. Applications normally open between October and November.
Students of English Perpetual Guardian - Legacy of Elizabeth Mary Phillips
A scholarship of up to $6000 to support a student studying English (BA, MA or higher qualification). Applicants must be NZ residents.
